Set on the second floor of a walk-up building in Tiong Bahru, one of Singapore’s most historic Art Deco housing estates, this apartment was designed as a bachelor home with a strong connection to its setting.

The long floor plan was reworked to improve light, flow and usability, connecting the front bedrooms, central living area, rear kitchen and bathrooms into a more cohesive home.

Inspired by the original character of the estate, we retained and reinforced key details such as steel-framed glass windows, terrazzo flooring and the pastel green kitchen tiles. Into this setting, we inserted a more modern layer of polished concrete, stainless steel and clean architectural details.

The result is a home that feels both old and new: a calm, modern bachelor apartment that works as a strong backdrop for the client’s art collection.
