Opening directly onto Stamford Road, Blue Label Tavern takes the familiar character of Blue Label Pizza and brings it into the city. More open, more visible and more immediate than its predecessors, the restaurant draws the energy of the street inside, with neon, stainless steel, warm timber and bold graphics setting a distinctly urban tone.

At the centre of the room, a large island bar anchors the plan. Everything moves around it, creating a natural rhythm between dining, drinking and service. High tops, communal tables, banquettes and more conventional dining seats create different ways to occupy the room, giving the relatively compact restaurant the informality and movement of a much larger space.

The design draws loosely from American taverns, diners and neighbourhood bars without recreating any one of them. Familiar references are shifted and reworked: stainless steel sits against timber and richer finishes, neon brings colour and nostalgia, while graphics and displays become part of the architecture rather than decoration applied afterwards.

The restaurant is deliberately approachable. From the street, there is little separation between the city and what is happening inside. The bar is visible, tables fill the frontage and the room feels active even before entering.

This is Perinelli Design’s third Blue Label restaurant and sixth project with restaurateur Travis Masiero. Rather than repeating an established formula, Blue Label Tavern develops the language again: more open, more urban and more connected to its surroundings.
Familiar but different, polished without becoming precious, Blue Label Tavern is designed around the simple pleasure of a good neighbourhood restaurant: a room with energy, character and plenty of reasons to stay.
