Set on the 17th floor of Parkview Eclat, with open views across Singapore, this 3,000 sq ft apartment was designed for a couple, their dog, an evolving collection of art and objects, and a home frequently filled with friends. Richly layered in material and detail, the interiors bring together two distinct personalities through a shared love of design and entertaining.

At its heart, a generous Boffi kitchen combines metallic-finish cabinetry, richly veined Brazilian black granite and walnut. Deep surfaces, substantial stone and layered finishes give the kitchen a sense of weight and quiet luxury. This darker language extends beyond the kitchen and into the adjoining hall, wrapping walls and ceiling to form an architectural spine through the apartment. Opposite, pale plaster finishes catch the natural light flooding in from the windows and balcony, opening the home towards the view.

The apartment was replanned around the way its owners live. The kitchen opens towards the dining and living areas, while an existing jacuzzi was removed from the balcony to create a generous outdoor room for dinners and gatherings overlooking the city. Spaces connect easily but can also operate independently, allowing different forms of entertaining to happen at the same time.

A dedicated karaoke and dance room takes on a more playful character, wrapped in decorative acoustic finishes. Soundproofed ceilings, doors and partitions allow music and activity to continue without taking over the rest of the home.

The interiors also respond to the different characters of their owners: one more restrained, the other more expressive and drawn to colour. Their individual spaces reflect these personalities more closely, while the rooms they share find a balance between the two. Detailed joinery, unexpected colour and carefully considered transitions give each space its own identity while maintaining a sense of coherence throughout.

Crafted, elegant and unapologetically personal, the result is a contemporary home with an unexpected sense of fun — designed for collecting, cooking, entertaining and, very rarely, being quiet.
